Alzheimer's Alliance - Texarkana Area is a non-profit, 501(c)(3)
charitable organization, governed by a local
Board of
Directors. It is the only volunteer organization in
the area dedicated to serving the needs of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders through family support, education, advocacy, and encouraging
research.
Our programs and services include:

Toll-free 24-hour Help Line: Staff and volunteers offer caregivers and families assistance 24 hours a day / seven days a week by providing educational materials and resource referrals. Help Line staff promote further understanding of problem situations and the symptoms and progression of Alzheimer's disease.

Support Groups:
Meetings are led by trained facilitators and provide an opportunity for family members and caregivers to learn more about the disease. Sessions include information, problem solving, coping skills and shared resources. Meetings are open to family members, caregivers and friends.

Newsletter: The Alzheimer's Alliance publishes a
bi-monthly newsletter to keep members, health care providers,
hospitals, long-term care facilities and community leaders aware of current research medical developments, plus Organization programs and activities.

Caregiver
Companion Cards:
These cards are available, free of charge, through the Alzheimer’s
Alliance - Texarkana Area. The cards are the size of a normal business
card. If you would like to request cards for your personal use, please
call the Alzheimer’s Alliance office.

Library: The library has education and training materials
available to paid organization members.

Education & Training: Educational programs are available for the community, families, caregivers and health care providers who work with individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder.

S.A.S.H. Program: The Survey for an Alzheimer's Safe Home (S.A.S.H.) is an in-home survey/discussion with a caregiver to help them become more aware of home safety issues important to their loved one with Alzheimer's disease.

Advocacy: The Alzheimer's Alliance remains current on legislative issues affecting Alzheimer's
families.

Speakers Bureau: To promote public awareness, the Alzheimer's Alliance provides
qualified professionals and lay persons to speak to community agencies, civic groups, health care providers and various clubs and churches on Alzheimer's disease and related issues.

Ask the Attorney: Alzheimer's individuals, families and caregivers can receive a free consultation on Alzheimer's related legal problems, including power-of-attorney, estate planning, etc.
